The Villas

Architecture

Drawing inspiration from the eclectic mix of cultural cues unique to Seychellois architecture and culture, the design team behind Banyan Tree Ocean Estate have set out to define a contemporary reinterpretation of this local vernacular – taking into account the unique characteristics and natural features of this pristine site. The result will be residences that instill an instant sense of place and belonging.

Each villa will be integrated into the landscape by:

  • Stepping villas down the site to maintain the integrity of the horizon
  • Being tucked away between natural rock features and thriving vegetation, so as to maintain a strong sense of privacy whilst still maximising views
  • Incorporating a series of fragmented volumes and spaces connected by platforms, boardwalks and passages, pool decks and large overhangs
  • Including vertical tower elements that mimic and respond to the dominant tree-line, articulating the design’s vernacular roots whilst maximising views
